Remains of `Salt Man' to Be Put on Display

TEHRAN The remains of a 2,000-year-old `salt man' and his belongings, discovered in 1993, will be put on display in an exhibition at Iran's National Museum in downtown Tehran as of May 18, the Cultural Heritage Organization announced Tuesday. The half body of a man and one of his leg, known later as the salt man, along with some of his belongings were found during excavations in 1993 at a salt mine in Hamzehlou Village of Zanjan Province, western Iran. The remains are believed to belong to a 40-year-old hunter or a prince who had been wounded for yet unknown reasons, a short while before death.
The man's trunk, a boot still intact on his foot, several pieces of bones, as well as several earthenware objects and metal tools will be displayed at the exhibition to be held simultaneously with the Cultural Heritage Day. (IRNA)
